Mireille* turned one goat into an education for her children.

Mireille and her family live in Tè Wouj, Haiti, where poverty is severe — but it’s not the whole story. Through Feed My Starving Children’s community-led program in Tè Wouj, Mireille received one goat and joined a local savings group. Soon, she’d built a small business buying and selling goats at the local market.

Now, that income feeds her family and pays her children’s school fees. This isn’t a handout; it’s a plan for lasting, sustainable change.

Across Tè Wouj, more women are building businesses of their own. Claudine* joined the savings group and started selling hygiene products. She reinvested her profits to add food and move closer to her goal of opening a grocery store.

Haiti is often defined by hardship. But it is also a place filled with people who have ideas, skills and faith. People determined to build something better.

In Haiti, vision isn’t missing. Stability is.

In our community-led programs, FMSC provides food, funding and support for about five years while community members decide what they need most and lead the work.

FMSC does not arrive with the answers. We listen. They lead.

In Tè Wouj, residents chose to invest in livestock, savings groups, agriculture and sanitation.

Their plan is working.

When the program began, 21% of households had no livestock, tools or other resources they could use to earn income. Today, every household owns something that can help generate income. [insert graph]
