At Feed My Starving Children, we know that it’s important to serve globally and locally. And last year, more than 1.2 million of you showed up to pack 333 MILLION meals for children around the world! That's incredible. 

Sometimes we get questions about why we don’t work here in the United States.

Our meals were designed for the severe undernutrition that is more common in the developing world. MannaPack™ meals have a taste and texture that is not as well received in the U.S.

When we get requests from domestic hunger programs, such as following a disaster, we send a sample box. This has not led to any large-scale requests. International hunger is “what we do best.”

In that vein, we’ve compiled some local volunteer opportunities near each of our eight permanent packing sites for our volunteers who are also looking to make a difference in their own community.

Chicago

World Relief

Mission: World Relief Chicago is committed to the long-term integration of new neighbors into our communities. By extending friendship and genuine belonging, they create connections that transform their lives and ours. World Relief Chicago brings churches and vulnerable immigrants together to transform our communities economically, socially, and spiritually. In doing so we move from loneliness to friendship, from vulnerability to stability, and from fear to hope.

Mission: North Texas Food Bank provides access to more than 190,000 meals each day for hungry children, seniors and families across a 13-county service area.

Phoenix

St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance

Mission: St. Mary’s Food Bank serves to alleviate hunger through the gathering and distribution of food while encouraging self-sufficiency, collaboration, advocacy and education. St. Mary’s Food Bank is truly a community-based organization. Individual donors, corporate donors, and private grants help feed hungry individuals and families in our area. Serving two-thirds of Arizona’s 15 counties, they are committed to volunteerism, building community relationships and improving the quality of life for Arizonans in need.
