Stories of Feeding God's Children Hungry in Body & Spirit

In Arizona: a move back to Tempe

In Arizona: a move back to Tempe

Earlier this month, Feed My Starving Children’s Arizona site made its official move from Mesa back to Tempe — where FMSC had its first packing site in the state from 2011 to 2015.

Super volunteers, FMSC staff and community members came together on November 7 to celebrate the grand opening of the new packing facility. The new facility will welcome more volunteers each year than any other permanent FMSC packing site!

Attendees heard from executive leadership about the long road to make this site a reality. And they heard from Tempe Vice Mayor Doreen Garlid about what the new space means to the community.

Dedicating FMSC Tempe to Christ

During the celebration, FMSC leadership led everyone around the site, praying over each room to dedicate the new space to Christ.

We prayed over FMSC MarketPlace — for every artisan empowered through their employment.

We prayed over the FMSC Tempe staff — that they would feel the Holy Spirit’s guidance and presence as they work at the site.

We prayed over every volunteer who will enter the site — that their time in the packing room would be transformative, that it would inspire them to be deeply involved in the work God is doing at FMSC.

We prayed over the packing room — that every meal packed would be more than a meal, but a physical reminder of God’s love and provision to the person who receives it.

We prayed over the warehouse — for the team working hard to ship out containers of FMSC meals.

Feeding kids
Of course, the event closed doing what FMSC does best: feeding kids.

The 73 people gathered for the grand opening packed 153 boxes of food at the celebration, enough to feed 90 children a daily meal for a year.
